My Experience in Academic English
My work in academic English was shaped by my time at Columbia University, where I developed a deep understanding of the expectations of American higher education. Through my work there, I saw firsthand how challenging it can be for students to communicate complex ideas clearly in high-stakes academic settings.
That perspective was further strengthened during several years of teaching in South Korea and Japan. Working closely with adult learners and university applicants, I developed a nuanced approach to supporting students from diverse educational backgrounds as they navigated academic English in global contexts.
Today, I bring this combined academic and international experience to my work, helping students develop the clarity, confidence, and communication skills needed to succeed in competitive academic environments.
Academic & Professional Background
My work is supported by a strong academic and professional foundation, including:
- B.A. in English Literature
- M.Ed in Education (in progress)
- Graduate Certificate in Communications from Columbia UniversityÂ
- TEFL Certification
- TEAP (Teaching English for Academic Purposes) Certification
In addition to these qualifications, I bring extensive experience supporting adult learners and university applicants across international contexts.
